Operating system not installed on SSD, cold call

Out of the blue a couple of days ago I get a call from someone saying they are working for Dell and that my brand new VERY VERY VERY expensive laptop had the OS installed on the wrong drive. The person said they want remote access to the laptop for 3 hours to do the install correctly.

Since this is exactly the same line all the Microsoft scammers use to get remote access - and is exactly the same kind of scam warned against on Dell's blog and in other forums - I reported this to Dell Customer Care.

Now I'm getting emails asking when I'm going to give remote access to the laptop for 2 hours and a USB port.  Plus, calls from the same 800 number that the original call came from asking me to call an alleged "investigator" at Dell.

Maybe this is all legit - but seems to me that if Dell messed up in installing the OS they should be sending a formal letter of explanation, a box for the return of the system, and an offer of a full refund or a new replacement unit (this is the highest-end laptop that Dell sells).

In this day and age, calling someone out-of-the-blue and saying give us remote access to your system for 2 to 3 hours has to be viewed as too sketchy to be believable.

Anyone else getting these calls-emails?  How are you handling it?

Nothing like that on my end, for my 15 R3.
