Hello, could you please let us know what system you have so we can help work out what the issue may be. It's possible that the RAM you have installed isn't 100% compatible.

When you say "it won't boot all the way up" what do you mean? Where does it get to?

Can you post any images or a video?

Hi @Km216  welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

Hopefully the RAM upgrade is of the same type as the original, so that the system can use it. Please insert one 16GB RAM card to check that system boots, then the other RAM card. If system does not boot, please insert the original RAM cards to reinstate system boot. Does VeraCrypt and its enhanced security allow RAM upgrade without user intervention?

Does POST (Power On Self Test) give diagnostic LED or beep code? Does the Alienware splash screen appear during boot so that you can F2 enter BIOS menu to confirm how much of the 36GB RAM is acknowledged, or F12 enter Boot menu to run Diagnostics (aka ePSA)? ePSA Pre Boot System Assessment Dell Overview (Official Dell Tech Support) - UPDATED - YouTube

Does system fail to enter POST or Operating System because its waiting for a valid VeraCrypt password?

Hi @Km216 ,

Have you tried looking to see what's the maximum amount of RAM your system could be configured with from dell and see if your simply putting incorrect RAM together? Having 36Gb is unusual.
