Searching for a new gaming computer

I was in the market to get my son a new Alienware laptop for Christmas. I buy him one every other year for Christmas. However, he did not want it when we discovered that there was no numeric keypad. What happened Alienware? We are now searching for another brand of quality gaming laptop. If anyone has any suggestions, I am welcoming all suggestions. Price range cap at around $3,000 or so.
