Upgrading Aurora R7 Help
Hey,
I know nothing about upgrading computers, but I want to play the latest games on my Aurora R7 so I will need to upgrade it!
Here are my specs -
- Operating System: 64-bit Windows 10.
- Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 / 2.80GHz 2.81 GHz
- Memory: 8 GB RAM (7.80 GB usable)
- Graphics: Sapphire 11265-01-20G Radeon NITRO+ RX 580 8GB
What needs upgrading? I'm guessing both the RAM and Graphics card? Any suggestions?
Thanks a bunch!

Since you are looking at a better gaming system then RAM would be the first step. The R7 can hold a maximum of 64 GB of RAM but that would be overkill as would 32 GB. But 32 would future proof it. At minimum 16 GB of RAM would help. For a video card the 580 is not a bad card but if you want better performance then possibly a RTX 2060 or better yet an RTX 2070. Though the RTX 2070 and RX 5700XT are very close in performance. This site offers more information on that comparison. The CPU could be upgraded as well as listed in this forum post. But I would go with the RAM and GPU upgrades first and see how you like the system performance before going to a faster CPU.
For even more input try reposting in the Alienware forum here.

If you're still shopping for the upgrades, can you please let us know what games you plan to play and on what resolution and detail? Your RX580 is enough for 1080p 60fps on high detail for most games albeit some fan noise but if you're looking for 4k 60fps ultra detail, then you'll need to consider something like a 2080 Super or 2080 Ti.
