x14 R1, headset audio jack doesn't detect anything

Alienware x14

Alienware x14

Hi All,

I tried everything, different headsets ( phones, gaming, etc. ) but can't seem to work. Basically as I plug those headset jack into the port at the back of my x14 R1, nothing happens, not even in the control panel of the audio setting, doesn't even show anything as registered. I went to Dell website and all drivers are updated, also checked Windows 11 updates, also checked device manager, all showing no issue. Is this common issue? Specific to Alienware only or all Windows 11? Any suggestions or fix please?

Hi @RamaIndrawan welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

Looks like you have undertaken How to Troubleshoot Audio or Sound Playback Issues | Dell US  - How to Fix It When Windows 11 Is Not Detecting Headphones (lifewire.com)

If still within Dell warranty, please visit your online Dell account to create Service Request so that Dell Support knows that there is a problem to fix. Accept Dell Technical Support request to conduct online session to use their diagnostic software and fix this problem.

I have an X17.  Let's compare symptoms.  If I boot or start with my wired headset in, it plays fine. If I look at the audio control center, I see the headsets and I see the speakers. If I unplug the headset, it disappears from the audio center and when I plug the headset back in, it never registers.  The Troubleshooter says no headset is plugged in. If I reboot with the headset back in, it works again, but only until I unplug it. I have erased and re-installed the drivers and all drivers are up to date.

Does that sound like your issue? Did you ever get it resolved?

Hello, Thanks

This has been fixed by simply getting a replacement from the manufacturer. Appreciate it everyone
