x15 R1, keyboard issues
Has anyone else been having issues with their x15 R1 keyboard? I've had this laptop for less than 24 hours now and so far I've noticed the keyboard:
1) often misses letters when I am typing
2) randomly stops working completely for 5 minutes at a time
I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the Alienware Command Center hoping that would fix it, and of course restarted the laptop several times, but unfortunately these issues have continued.
If anyone has found a solution to this, I would greatly appreciate any assistance. If you are having the same issues as me, I feel your pain and annoyance. I was hoping to get a better experience with something that costed me a whole paycheck.

In Australia these are $4080 laptops. They need to work perfectly for the money Dell are asking. The fact there is an issue which directly effects how you interact with it is inexcusable and it needs to be fixed. I understand where you are coming from, but my hands are tied. I don't want to put up the missing key presses issue, because quite frankly for $4080 a pop (and I have purchaed x2 of these), I shouldn't need to put up with this sort of problem. Furthermore, Dell Australia won't even consider a refund unless I go through the processes they have with having parts replaced and tech's coming to my home to verify what I am saying. I genuinly hope there is some fix on these new motherboards that stops the missing key presses problem, because outside of the missing key presses issue its a great laptop.

This firmware does not address the problem fully.
It fixed the issue with the X15 keyboard not working for 1minute+ and requiring reboots to fix.
However the missed key presses after inactivity are still an issue, even with the latest firmware.

Motherboard replaced on 1 of the 2 X15's I purchased.
The latest BIOS was also installed (1.0.5) that was released on December 7th.
The issue is still not resolved. The tech experienced the missed key presses first hand when updating the BIOS to 1.0.5 and needing to download it from the Dell website.
My 2nd laptop is scheduled for a motherboard replacement today. Expecting it wont fix the issue on this laptop either.
Service Request on the first laptop has been escallated with Dell and I am now asking for a refund on both laptops. I hope this is not a long drawn out process, as I need to go and purchase another two laptops that will actually work now.

Just got the replacement system I waited 3 months for. Backlight isn't working on some of the keys, some of the keys on the right don't register (or do something different entirely) Had the thing for barely 12 hours and I'm ready to throw it out the window. USERS should not be troubleshooting a laptop RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX! Wasting OUR precious time for YOUR errors and mistakes! Hours, days, months! How long until your clients are treated like the valuable asset they are? Stop peddaling your half baked laptops and hardware to people. Unfortunately computers don't run off lies, unlike the basis of your entire operation.

If you actually want to keep using it, I posted how to fix it. I wouldn't waste my time with hardware replacements, that's all.

Recommend you replace the system again. Tell them to actually make sure its fully troubleshoot free and has no issues when the send it to you again. If they refuse esculate it to a manager and explain the issues you've been having. I agree its not acceptable to have to wait 3 monthes for a product that half works. I also agree with @Detail466 its hopefully a software issue.

Same issue here exactly on my brand new X17. Really hope it's just a software update that gets patched soon!

That fix was already mentioned several times in this topic. Somehow, every single user experiences this issue, yet they're unable to reproduce it in their lab. Remarkable.
