I'm having this exact same issue. Was this ever addressed anywhere, or did you ever find a fix? It seems almost intentional. It works in reverse for me as well. Sometimes if I'm typing and I brush the mousepad with my lower palm (which happens on laptops), it temporarily disables the keyboard and I miss strokes. Or like if I'm mousing over to something and then immediately start typing, it won't register the first couple keystrokes.
I did find a solution of sorts, look through your settings and access the mouse sensitivity. it had a lot to do with it, put it at the highest setting and it should fix that issue.
