Hi @FalconC welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support. 

It seems that the ac adapter provided has the wrong power cord. Please visit your online Dell account and create Service Request to Reject the system. Dell Refund policy, New vs Refurbished - Dell Community 

You should get the correct power cord delivered in days, or a full refund.

One would think it but I got a thank you and sorry. But they did offer to priority ship it after I suggested.

Hi @FalconC  thank you for sharing your solution. Strange that Dell took 5 hours to respond to a 5 minute activity. Hopefully Dell mitigated this appalling service by providing compensation.

So first I spend 5 hours on support to try and correct my problem. They send the wrong adapter cord.

So they sent me a new cord, finally, and it's the wrong cord again! So I don't know if they are playing with me or what now? So I go back to trying to communicate with them and they don't have cord in stock. So I effectively have a 3500$ paperweight. So I ask how to return the computer and they don't respond. Their support has been a joke a complete joke. It seems they don't care to help or offer a solution.

Hi @FalconC thank you for sharing update that the wrong system has been delivered and cannot be used. As soon as possible, please visit your online Dell account and create Service Request to Reject the system. Dell Refund policy, New vs Refurbished - Dell Community Include in your Service Request escalation to senior Dell tier that can authorise full refund without further delay.

Wow what a messup???

That is just a common "Mickey Mouse" AC power cord.

I like many other places would have hundreds of them.

And most AC adapters use the same power cord.

I would have looked locally while requesting a replacement.

No paperweight.

You know I was looking for a cord but couldn't figure out the name of it but makes sense. Well you think they would offer a solution  that would be hey buy your own and we will refund the amount. I don't get how they don't have any

Hi @FalconC  I made the presumption that the Alienware x17 R1 laptop is fully functional. Have you accepted that the x17 R1 is OK, and it is just the wrong ac adapter that is the only problem?

Hi @FalconC  being reliant on Dell Support is seemingly the big problem. Having raised Service Request you have time to think about what you want. The correct ac adapter should be available in local shops or on the internet. It is down to you paying a little more and getting on with your life, or waiting on Dell support.

Apologies for the messup!

Dell mistakenly sent JPGHP power cable as shown on the sales invoice. The problem is JPGHP is for Argentina. Dell then sent the generic PC/monitor power cable 5120P which cannot connect to the x17 R1 240W AC power adapter 4GC66. For 240W AC power adapter 4GC66, they should have sent 2JVNJ. They have now setup that dispatch.
