Hi @The84Lion welcome to this free user-to-user Alienware laptop discussion forum.

Having made the comparison of the Alienware x17 R2 (1/27/2022) BIOS/UEFI with the older Alienware x17 R1 (6/15/2021) BIOS/UEFI, you discover that Dell has failed to include the x17 R2 keyboard backlight feature to turn off or "timeout." Please click on x17 R2's Contact Technical Support to request they fix this BIOS/UEFI feature omission.

Please click on @DELL-Cares to send a Direct Message requesting assistance. Postulate that this feature is also 'missing' from all of the x17 R2 BIOS/UEFI versions.

I have been going back and forth with Tech Support (PMs) all weekend on this.  Tonight I found this:

I came across this link:

https://gzhls.at/blob/ldb/c/4/f/f/ba64dbc5374c034bfe516dcef852c932e349.pdf

on the internet.  This appears to be an older version of the x17r2 BIOS, and the manual says this:

Keyboard Backlight with AC Selects the timeout value for the keyboard backlight when an
AC adapter is plugged into the computer.
Default: 1 minute
Keyboard Backlight with Battery Selects the timeout value for the keyboard backlight when the
computer is running on battery power.
Default: 1 minute

These options are under the Advance menu.

But in the latest version on the Dell website:

https://dl.dell.com/content/manual3427996-alienware-x17-r2-service-manual.pdf?language=en-us

The manual doesn't list those keyboard backlight settings.

Why were those settings removed from the BIOS, and what, if anything, replaced them?    Does this mean that the x17r2 now only has options of off, on (dim), or on (bright), and that's it?
