x17 R2, overheating
Hi,
I have an x17 R2 with I7-12700H and Nvidia 3080Ti. I received this one about a month and a half ago. Since I started to run my games I noticed the high temperature of the processor when the usage is barely at 3 or 5% but is hitting 96 and 100 degrees.
The CPU package and CPU IA cores throw around 100 and 106 degrees, and I don't believe this is a normal temperature. This is my fourth Alienware laptop and never seen something like that. Even my x17 R1 has a lot lower temp than this one.
I have the last BIOS update, I have a cooler pad and always use AC in my room when gaming, and this barely helps with the temperature.

I agree that does not sound right, I would look into getting a return, or RMA if you’re familiar with that. The issue sounds like a problem from the manufacturer so you might be without that laptop for awhile, but doing any kind of self maintenance risks voiding warranty and I would not recommend on a new laptop still under warranty.

Hi @Karosuu welcome to this free user-to-user Alienware laptop discussion forum.
Within the first 30 days there is option to Reject, thereafter Dell warranty applies. Dell Refund policy, New vs Refurbished - Dell Community.
Please ensure that air intake and exhaust have adequate clearance, vents have no debris and fan blades have no dust. A can of dry air can be used to remove dust and debris. Intel says maximum internal temperature should not exceed 100°C. Make sure that local temperature is not excessive.
