x17 R2, Windows 11 updates, speaker not working
Hi all,
I am using Alienware x17 R2. However, after several Windows 11 updates, my mic stop working. Then I have to reinstall the audio driver. However, now the speaker is not working. I think it is because the driver could not recognize the built-in speaker. Please help on this solution, I tried update all driver but it could not resolve.
Best regards,
Tung Tran

Hi @TungTran11 welcome to this free user-to-user Alienware laptop discussion forum.

Visit your online Dell account and create Service Request so that Dell Support 'officially' knows that there is a problem to fix. Allow Technical Support access to have online session on your laptop. @crimsom is spot on with the advice. I have also had problems where periodically my sound does not work in speakers with Windows 11. Right click on the speaker icon and selecting troubleshoot sound problems has worked for me and may work for you.

The troubleshoot did not work for me, it has a non-sense guide. At some point, the troubleshooter runs and says "there is no audio device connected", and it does not allow to continue before "Connecting the audio device". This is totally non-sense! The issue is a that I don't have audio after a recent Windows Update. The audio driver has been corrupted and I can't find a way to fix it.
