x17 R2, yet another Dell system failure
Alienware x17 R2
I am getting the Code 43 error in Device Manager. I have removed the hard drives that were in the system, put new ones in, did a fresh install of Windows 11 and the error came back. Getting BSOD when trying to load games such as Ark Survival Evolved, Call of Duty, Far Cry, and even The Sims 4. Done all the standard troubleshooting steps I have had to do over the last year with all the other systems I have had with Dell with this type of problem.
Yeah, I guess I am done with Dell. 6 systems in 14 months that have had problems for me as an individual. This is the sequence of events:
m17 R3 - great system for 3.5 years. Motherboard failed. Parts would take 45 days so they gave me a replacement x17 R1 in its place.
Replacement x17 R1 had multiple motherboards/LCDs put in. Replaced by x17 R2.
Replacement x17 R2 had multiple motherboards put in. After the 4th or 5th service call, they refunded the purchase.
m17 R5 AMD was purchased as a good will gesture during the above debacle. Had to return it after numerous BSOD, freezes and other failures. When HWINFO showed "Unknown" for RAM size, I decided to just return this system because it was less than 30 days old and I just didn't want to deal with problems. Tech support still continued to harass me after I told them I was returning the system by telling me that I needed to do more troubleshooting with them. Can't they take a hint and leave someone alone if they tell them that they are not going to do anymore troubleshooting and were in the process of returns?
I bought a new x17 R2 because the refund that was initiated by the previous x17 R2 return would only go on the original method of repayment despite the account having already been paid off. This new x17 R2 had multiple problems and had the motherboard replaced multiple times. I told them I wanted a replacement system because I was going out of the country on such and such date and needed it before I left. Nope, they wouldn't do it. They wouldn't be able to send it overseas and I had to make a special trip back just so I could swap out the system with the one I have now.
This new x17 R2 I got is the one that I am having that code 43 with now.
No more Dell systems for me. Pretty sad day when someone that has been Dell-certified since 1999 won't even entertain buying another system from them. I will probably get this one fixed and immediately sell it so someone else gets to deal with Dell and their TERRIBLE systems. Dell used to make a great product, stood behind their product, and treated customers well. Those days are long gone.
