Deduplication question
Hi Team
Had a question on deduplication . Here in my environment we have configured the backups to DD integrating with Avamar. Here want to know both Avamar and DD are using both Hash Algorithm . But want to get clear what deduplication it will work whether Avamar or DD and how can anyone help me with this.

Yes, that is correct. Just a small correction - "Not DD plugin, but DDBoost lib"

Thanks for clarification, so, what avamar does than , it will take backup of Configuration files or else no ... it looks like TSM SAN level backup the actual data will get moved to DD and configuration files like Database alone it will move to server.. is it the same in avamar also pls

DD Boost library comes in handy to facilitate Avamar's source based deduplication.

Thanks for the reply, than from the client side using DD plugin the data will get DE duplicated and data which is not backed up will move to DD am I right ??

Hello,
When you select Data Domain as a target for client backup, all the Metadata and logs will be stored on Avamar server and data will be transferred to Data Domain.
Stored meta data on Avamar server will enable Avamar Management system to perform restore from Data Domain.
