SPS will not stop testing
Hello All,
I have an issue with a CX3-20. The Enclosure SPE SPS B will not stop testing and returns with both power supply enclosures faulted. The SPE A0 and B0 do not have issues but A1 and B1 show faulted. The SPS keeps going to not ready and tests over again. This has been occurring for over 24 hours now and was sending alerts ever minute. I have already tried reseating both faulted power modules.
My question here is if it were faulted, shouldn't it stay faulted, or is this normal behavior until the modules are replaced?
This is the first time this has occurred on the storage system.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Thank you for the quick responses. I will start ordering the parts and update the discussion once it gets resolved.

Yes, I have reseated the Sense Cable and faulted SPS'. My thinking behind it was that if it was faulted it should display it and stop trying to test. Are there any other items you would recommend to check before ordering the replacement SPS. The ordering process may take a while for the parts to get here.

Not really, rebooting the same SP would be unnecessary at this point of time.

No this is not a normal behavior. SPS Testing should happen Weekly Once by default it happens on every Sunday. However, you can change the time.
Coming back to your issue, I would suggest to replace the SPS first and check if it stops battery testing. (if you have already tried reseating Sense Cable and SPS)

Reboot SP? :S I have had multiple of those, I kept rebooting SP's always as a last measure.
This is what I used to follow
Reseat Sense Cable
Reseat SPS.
Replace Sense Cable
Replace SPS
I/O Module depends on SR to SR. (Logs required)
Still no joy...Reboot SP's
Thoughts?

We have seem a couple of arrays where the IO module (the module where the sense cables plugs into the SP) on one of the SP's was locked up in a state that kept reporting a bad SPS - the solution was to reboot the SP - that worked in one case, in the other the IO module needed to be replaced.

Just a quick update. I rebooted the SP and didn't have any luck. The SPS is still testing. The faulted SPS is going to be replaced and I will update then.
Thanks again for the input.
