Create an NFS share on a Compellent?

Hey all -

We have a pretty old Compellent system (SC40), I was wondering if there was any way to set up an NFS share directly from it?

Short answer: no.
Compellent is Block only and not a NAS.

Yes the SC7020 was planned supporting File as well but the merge with EMC killed that.

Yes.

Different possibilities..

  1. You run virtual machines and one of your VMs provide a NFS or CIFS share
  2. You provide block storage to a phys. Host or VM (iSSCSI into GuestOS) which run Linux and provide shared trough NFS or CIFS

Gotcha. So to host an NFS share, I'd need to mount it on a server and host that space as an NFS share?
