Over disk Raid10 claim
Hi
My system has total capacity 18TB, and we have 4TB free.
Storage profile configure to Raid10 and then Raid5.
What will happen if we have sudden >2tb write? Doe's the system will be in failure dangerous, due to full physical space allocation?

Hello chenchen,
The best way for us to tell is to look at a phone home log of your system so that we can see how much space is used and how much is left free on the different tiers. In most cases I would say you should be ok if you were to have a >2TB write but will need to look at a phone home log to be sure that you could handle a >2tb write and not put your system into emergency mode.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi
Thanks for the answer.
I will rephrase my issue\question:
It's not related to R10 or R5, it's the general approach of how SC works, i guess.
In our VNX system (or any other SAN) - a volume\LUN has a strict capacity of x TB.(2TB for example) and That's also what the hypervisor sees (ESXI for example). That's it.
Once the capacity is near to full (1.9TB) - that any operation that requires more that 0.1TB - will fail and rollback by the hypervisor (storage vmotion for example).
In SC - as i can learn, the logical capacity is actually not something we can trust of - because it depends on the physical disks space (R10\R5) .
Such thing - actually puts me in risk 24\7. Why? because if there in a bulk writes of 5TB in the middle of the night (R10 in most cases - unless i have used R5 first on the storage profile) - and the volume has 50% free space (which is NOT true, because what matters is the disks) - the whole system - without any warning - will enter into emergency mode !
I can and i have created Snapshot every hour, but the bulk can happen between the snapshots.
Is SC will give me sleepless nights from now on?
What to i miss or wrong?
