Over Subscription on Cisco 9506

Question

Hello. currently we have six 9506 directors. When we originally bought them we had only the 1/2 DS-X9016 modules (16 port module running at 1 or 2 Gbs). Since then we have installed the DS-X9148 (48 port module) and the DS-X9304-18K9 (18/4 module with 4 GigE ports).

I know that the 48 port module is over subscribed with 12 ports in a port group sharing about 12.8 Gbs. Is the 18/4 module also over subscribed or can all 18 ports run at 4Gbs?

It doesn't specify the amount of bandwidth available to each port, or what the port groups are, but looking at the data sheet for the 4Gb modules:

... we see that 96Gbs of full duplex bandwidth is available to each line card. So the 24-port card has 4Gbs available to each port (four 6-port groups with 24Gbps per group). I would assume then that the 18/4 cards have the same bandwidth capabilities and that your FC ports have full 4Gbps available to them.

CiscoKid,So the oversubscription rate on the 18/4 line card FC ports is the same as the 9124 line card?I found the following section on configuring Gen 2 and Gen 3 in the SAN-OS Config Guide:http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/mds9000/sw/4_1/configuration/guides/cli_4_1/gen2.html#wp1699823It states that both the DS-X9124 and the DS-X9304-18K9 have 6 ports per port group and 12.8G bps of bandwidth per port group.

Yes, the 24 port (Gen 2) line card has the same oversubscription as the 18/4. There is also a 24 port Gen 3 line card (for up to 8 Gbps) but that's another issue.Thank you.
