Port does not support L-port
Hello
Ports on our DCX directors error with 'Port does not support L-port' whenever a tape device is patched. Under port configuration settings all ports only allow for E-Port and F-Port - is there a license that enables this, or a switch configuration setting? I have looked through the switch configuration and cannot see any obvious parameters related to this...
Thanks.

Not too familiar with the DCX limitations but historically not every switch/director from Brocade supports loop (L) devices. IMHO these days most fibre tape drives can be configured to connect as either fibre node devices or loop devices. If configured to connect as fibre node device it would then connect as an F-port on the switch¿
I hope this helps

Now you mention it, I do recall flicking a switch on tape drives in the past, and them subsequently logging onto Brocade directors as F-Port.
However I would surprised if the 48000 directors support L-Port but not the new DCX backbones, which is why I thought perhaps there is a parameter or license that enables this...

Port types:
FL_port (except FC8-48), F_port, M_port (mirror port) and E_port; self discovery based on switch type (U_port); optional port type control
So.......... The FC8-48 does not support FL (F or L)
