I had a similar issue with Dell lying. I contacted them 2 days before the ship date and they told me it was in some sort of pre production inspection to make sure everything was good and that it will ship on the 13th. Now it’s been delayed an extra month. Definitely the last time I try to purchase anything from Dell.
I too just encountered this issue. I received and email stating my PC entered production after waiting a month for it to move from "Confirmed". That email was followed up with another 2 hours later stating my PC was delayed until February 2nd, 2022. This order was placed on November 15th, 2021. I have been told various things as to why my PC is being delayed. All part shortages. But my issue is the part they claim is "short" keeps changing depending on who you talk to. I need my PC so I acknowledged the consent form to wait but I am not happy about it.
I received an email stating that since my order was going to be delayed more than 30 days I had to sign a consent form stating that I understood and what my new expected date was. Failure to give my consent would result in an automatic cancellation of my order according to the document. After I electronically signed it I received a confirmation email thanking me for approving my order changes.
I'm seeing so many discussions on this same issue. Dell's Customer Service is not being truthful at all.
Beyond that, why would you continue to offer an option such as a specific graphics card or memory type, if you don't have it and don't know if/when you can get it?
I ordered min Dec 16, and had to argue with CS to get them to admit anything was wrong, and what the issue was. THEN, a week later, I got notice that the build was delayed. Eight weeks from order to ship, I can understand, but freakin be honest about it.
Meanwhile, the monitor I ordered with the PC showed up in three days. I can't use it with my current machine, it's too old. So I have a monitor taking up warranty time, and I can't even verify that it works. I'm about to box it up and ship this back and cancel the whole shebang.
Similar experience here. Excitedly placed my order back on March 25, was told then it would ship today (April 13). As of this morning, my order remained “Confirmed” and still had yet to move to production. A few days ago I checked in with customer support to get a sense of what specific aspect of pre-production was making for such a long lead time (and silence in terms of updates), and one customer service agent stated it was my selected GPU, the 3080, and that they did not have the part. Mind you I had to have three separate conversations to get that information. All of which were mostly frustrating exercises in navigating the same script, sometimes even cut-and-pasted erroneously with quotations marks as though ripped directly from the manual without proofing.
The agent stated that there was no real timeline on when the part was going to be acquired, which made my spidey sense tingle a bit … some quick Googling (and finding threads like this) revealed that I was almost certain to enter a world of hurt (and unpredictable delays). Even though my ship date is still depicted as today, my order has yet to enter production, indicating they still didn’t have my chosen GPU on hand.
So while I wanted to wait it out, obtain a beautiful machine at not too terrible a price, I went ahead and cancelled my order. While Dell/Alienware can’t seem to get a GPU, I was able to acquire all parts on Amazon and NewEgg to build my own rig. Other vendors (system integrators who build the PC for you for a fee) also seem to have no issues here, either. Several competitors were happy to build me a PC in as little as two days to a couple weeks, with guaranteed inventory ready to roll. I understand we’re dealing with different logistics and challenges from scenario to scenario, and I don’t fault Dell so much for the delay as I do the poor communication, customer care, and expectation setting.
I last bought a gaming PC from Dell/Alienware in 2013, the Alienware x51 (an R1), and even then I remember having similar issues with order fulfillment. I feel a bit stupid expecting something different this time around, but I suppose I hoped that in the nearly decade that has passed, something might have improved. It has not.
So while I’m bummed to cancel the order, I’m also incredibly satisfied with my decision to do my first PC build from scratch. My original R1 still runs flawlessly, by the way, I recently repasted the CPU (3770-i7) and GPU (upgraded to 1060 GTX), and it’s still a great emulation/1080p gaming machine that I will always be glad I stuck with. Unfortunately, I won’t be adding the Aurora R13 to the fold of great gaming experiences, but I wish anyone luck who has more perseverance to stick it out! Keep us all posted, it’s important to share these kinds of experiences so others can know and make more informed decisions.

Where did you receive this consent form? Email? The only email I got is the “order delayed status” revised ship date. Thanks

Same issue with me, however they changed my ship date by over 3 MONTHS, from December 20th to March 5th!!!
Could have been transparent from the beginning, however they clearly oversold the units knowing of a part shortage!
I surely can be patient if the delay was maybe another 30 days, but this is another 3 MONTHS!
Very very unprofessional by Dell!
