Hi @Racoon_eye welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.
These are unusual times and COVID-19 continues to be a problem. If the system has already been manufactured and is sitting on a shelf, it will be despatched within days. If the system has not been manufactured, despatch will be delayed. Customers can always check on availability before ordering. Customers can choose to buy discounted stock or refurbished systems with one year Dell warranty. If Customer remains unhappy, cancel order.
Make sure that the m17 R? specification is what you require, soldered on RAM cannot be upgraded, Intel CPU will not use fast RAM, etc, Product Support
Hi @Racoon_eye thank you for sharing update. Dell are even more unhappy if a Customer rejects delivery of a new system order within 30 days of Dell invoice, and have to sell it as a second hand system, search the Dell community forums for examples. Customers should have looked at reviews on the internet to make sure that they get the specification they want.
It makes sense to have the right spec order.Think there can be better communication between dell and the customer. Also I am sure dell would not be to happy for someone to suggest to cancel a 4k order. I think they would prefer better customer communications and support being given even in these difficult times.
Hi @Racoon_eye thank you for sharing update. The users in the Dell community discussion forum volunteer their free time, are not employed by Dell and thereby provide independent discussion. Just about anything technology related is subject to delays right now, due to both component shortages and shortages of international shipping capacity (Alienware notebooks are built in China). This is particularly true of GPUs -- try buying a mid-range or higher desktop GPU card these days, but be sure you're seated when you see the price and the fact that you may have to win a lottery to order. Notebook GPUs are in short supply as well.
Racoon they will say the delays are covid related but Ive bought several products or the years and can confirm that they are NEVER on time. Literally every order has been at least month late since 2016. They ship from china and dells poor customer are the real culprit. 2 of my orders in a row in 2017 just didn't ship. When I contacted dell to see why then said they didn't have this shipping address (even though it is clearly on the order) but instead if reaching out to me to resolve it they just never processed the orders resulting in shipping and extra 2 months of waiting. twice in row 6 months apart pre-covid (in 2017). Just look at the customer care tickets opening in the last week and there 30 + that are shipping related..... none of them positive.

So true but can't put anymore in mine. It's not the spec that's the problem.
It's the communication or lack of.
Thank you so much for your feed back it is so appreciated.

Still not happy
Alienware M17 i9 rtx3080 2T
Ordered 23rd February 2022
Order Delays again and again, not gone to production yet.
Part shortage was 3 parts went down to 1 part now back at 3 parts.
Sounds like a lot of people in the same boat.
Keep safe
