AW3418DW, poor Alienware Technical Support
what a digester.
Initial order monitor has bad bleeding on the bottom left. I may can live with that, but after playing PUBG for 10 min or more, I got this random blink (turn on and off kind effect). I was a little suspicious on this, but the game must go on. after like an hour later, I got this turn on and off effect again. so I contacted Dell and they direct me to Alienware Tech support. took 1hr and 20min to get my replacement in, but no service number or any confirmation number. After I send back what would be my confirmation number, I got a service number. Service number was created under some random dell monitor (P2715Q). I was little worried but they did send a replacement of AW3418DW. Here is started with 2nd replacement monitor. After using for like 10min with 120 overclocked and Gsync on, half of the monitor started flickering(blinking). I took video since flickering was consistent. So I contact Alienware tech support for another replacement. but this guy has no idea since the service number was showing Dell P2715Q. I told him to check dispatch number you will see description saying AW3418DW replacement. after 1 hr him trying to figure out, and I finally got some answer.
"have you tried a different cable?"
"have you connected to a different computer?"
yes, i tested with my own DP and your DP that came with it but flickering after few mins after using it.
since the monitor was boxed up, I asked him nicely you saw the video, and it's clearly blinking.
however, he told me to put the connector on. so I had to unload 40lb broken monitor and connected again.
and obviously, when i was on phone with him it wasn't blinking. I told him to wait for me at least 10 min, but he said they can't do replacement since its okay.
clearly, this guy is treating me like I know nothing. I shouldn't even have this conversation if I ordered from Amazon or other places.
I was so and asked for a refund, and he told me to call again for help (call the same dept for a refund? you could've done that for me?) but I was so fed up at that moment since I was on the phone with this guy for 1hr and 30min. I told him "thank you for wasting my time" and hung up on him.
Magically monitor start flickering again.
that is my story guys.
FYI Alienware: you guys make top #1 monitor but here are 2 Major Failure.
1. Horrible customer service & useless Tech (i would say "NON" tech) service.
2. Bad QC that simple blinking issue couldn't be caught by technicians. Please get it together and come up with SOP on QC rules.
Maybe get rid of direct selling and sell Dell & Alienware through vendors?
