Customer Satisfaction
Does Dell care about its customers? In the past I ordered an Inspiron 17R. The display, hard drive, and motherboard failed after my warranty expired. Even the characters on the keyboard faded away. I wrote Dell concerned about a possible quality control issue, and they understood. I was blessed that they showed empathy and replaced the failed parts. Dell had me sold at this point. With this in mind I later purchased and Alienware 18 which worked well and still operational today. Along with the purchase of the 18, a Venue 7 tablet was an extra added if I bought the 18. The Venue 7 still today is the slowest and worst electronic device in my household. It's slow, slow, and slow again. It may be the CPU, but it's best used as a paper weight. I'm sure the price for it was added somewhere in the purchase of my 18 and was not worth the effort. Next up was an Alienware 17R5 that I purchased. Great computer with the exception of the speakers. Unlike the Alienware 18, the 17's speakers are the worst I've ever heard on a laptop. Out of the box the speakers were staticky, and low in volume. After contacting Dell a technician was sent who confirmed that the speakers were bad, and replaced them. Six months later the right speaker went bad. I feel this is odd since I usually play my games using a headset. If I do anything without headsets, I keep the volume low as there isn't a need for volume. I also contacted customer service and asked about the warranties. If a computer from Dell is bought for thousands of dollars, why is the warranty so poor? A One year warranty for a computer costing thousands should have as a minimum a two year warranty. Without that much, I assume Dell themselves must not have much confidence in their products. I use the Dell credit card for my purchases. I didn't think much of it when I received my card but decided to look up the interest rates later on. To my surprise it was at 29.99%. I have darn good credit and this was the best they could, or wanted to do for me? When I asked why from customer service, and could they lower the interest rate, I was fed a political type answer of no. When I purchase my computers from Dell I build them online requesting what I need added. I believe Dell can do better with their product quality, and customer satisfaction. I would like to remain a Dell customer, but if there isn't any real concern for it's customers, I'll go elsewhere for my computer needs.
