Dell Trade in program, failure in returning old one
Code of Conduct. DELL-Admin>
I don't know if others are having an issue like this? I am writing because I am upset with the way things have gone with the trade-in of my Dell computer and don't believe this type of reputation for not solving issues would benefit the company in any way. I have only bought Dell for years when it came to computers as I have found them reliable. I was looking for a Dell laptop for my daughter and came across your trade-in program. I wasn't really in the market for a new computer for myself but the trade program enticed me to look into it. Once I found my trade-in value of $483, I decided to look at a new laptop and found a Vostro 7620 that had everything I wanted and when my trade-in was finished it would be a good price for a new computer so I bought it. The new computer arrived and I transferred everything to the new $1393 computer knowing the amount will be $910 after the trade-in was completed. I boxed up the computer and went off to a FedEx drop site they couldn't take it per FedEx, I went to 2 more FedEx spots and got the same answer except the last place was kind enough to tell me this package could only be processed at a distribution center for FedEx. I looked for the closest distribution point which is 1.5, one way and not including traffic. I didn't feel that was appropriate to ask the customer and came home to call Dell. After going through 4 different people and explaining the same thing over and over and tearing open the box cause no one seemed to be able to do anything without a service tag number except one of the 4 people who looked it up by my name. Still, none of the rest could be bothered and had to have the service tag to do anything. None of them seemed to know what the trade-in program was or what I was talking about. Now, if that isn't frustrating enough, I am told by the last guy there are no options to send in my trade-in except going to a FedEx distribution center. I asked the guy if they can deliver from UPS why can't we return with them and was told FedEx was my only option. So now I am sitting here with a fully functional computer I thought I could trade in which would offset the price of the new computer and boy was I wrong. So instead of paying $910 I now have to pay $1393 because no one could help with any alternatives and it makes me feel almost like a bait-and-switch scenario cause the only one that won was Dell. I have to seriously consider if I will box up the new computer and send it back so I don't have that $1393 bill. And also need to consider if I will have any loyalty to Dell in the future as I have had for many years. If there is no way to provide all the prepaid labels needed including for the battery so I can have a FedEx home pick-up done then I feel Dell should at least take the $483 I was to receive off my Dell preferred financing where the new computer was charged to.
