Need help getting help from customer support!
I have had an absolutely miserable experience with Dell and my new Alienware M14xR2 computer. About a week after receiving my laptop, I had serious issues. Tech support over the phone said my laptop may have been in the warehouse for a while and had me open up my laptop, do a full battery drain, and restart it, which ended up fixing the problems, or so it seemed. A few days later the problems came back, and tech support decided I needed my motherboard replaced. I said I wanted a refund, but was told I had to have a tech try to fix it before I could get a refund. So a tech came out (this is about a month after purchase), and he replaced the motherboard. In the weeks that followed, I had about 15 blue screens. Yep, my month old laptop was having blue screens at least once a day.
So, I call tech support yet again. Tell them I'm kind of getting to the point where I'm just done with this laptop. I paid $2,000 and I can barely use it! They wanted to try to fix the problem. They used a program to remote control my laptop, did some tech-y stuff, and told me it should be fixed. After this I didn't have any major issues, but I have had issues that are just not acceptable for a gaming computer. The fps (frames per second) on games keeps dropping and spiking, making game play more of a chore than an enjoyable past time. Game clients crash, causing me to disconnect from games halfway through. With a normal, reasonably priced laptop, these problems might be understandable. But when you shell out thousands of dollars for a GAMING laptop, it should be able to play games. Dell support tells me to uninstall drivers, reinstall drivers, etc. I have tried so much to fix this laptop, but have gotten little to no results.
I finally decided I was just so done. I can't deal with this anymore. I've had this laptop since June, and I still have not had any real help, despite my constant calls to Dell. This weekend, I called customer support and told them I wanted to return my laptop. I said I'd even be okay with just getting credit for a new dell laptop, but the one I have is just no longer acceptable. My request was denied. Apparently I only had 30 days (some Dell reps said 30, some said 21) from the date I received my laptop to get a refund. Yet when I asked for a refund within those 30 days, I was denied. I was told I had to go through hoops first. Well, I went through the hoops and now I am stuck with a laptop that works about as well as my fiance's three year old, $500 laptop. I was on the phone for 3 hours this weekend, being transferred from customer support, to tech support, to customer support, to tech support, to sales, to tech and so on, until I reached the "resolution team." I thought I would finally get some sort of help. I talked to an incredibly nice man named Jose that came up with a plan to fix things. We decided I would send in my laptop to Dell (instead of having a tech come out), and they would fix it and send it back. If I had any problems, I could get a refund within 30 days. I was told a box would be sent to my house for me to ship my laptop to Dell, free of charge. I was also told I'd receive an email in the morning with the info of the man I spoke to, allowing me to talk to him until my issues were resolved. Well, I never received that email. I am at my wit's end. I am getting no help whatsoever, and I am just so fed up; I'm tired of getting the runaround. Does anyone have any advice on how to get help? Any advice on who to talk to, what department can help, etc would be fantastic! Everyone I talked to told me "I don't have authority to give a refund, let me transfer you to ____." So, any advice would be greatly appreciated!
