Optical Sensor for Dell MS 116 optical mouse

Hi

I had bought a Dell MS 116 optical mouse 1 year ago and it was working great. Recently by accident I dropped it from my table which isn't much high. Anyway, after the fall, the pointer started lagging a little bit. It would work smoothly, then again a short lag, where I have move my mouse but the pointer takes some time to move on screen.

Since it was no more under warranty, I disassembled the mouse and looked inside. Nothing broken, nothing out of place. I carefully took out the circuit board and looked at the optical sensor. There seems to be a very tiny scratch on the portion of the curve where the light from the LED falls. Can that be the problem? Otherwise there seems to be no problem at all.

So if that could be the reason behind the lag, can you please tell me where I can buy the optical sensor separately? The glass/plastic part, whatever the material it is. The lag isn't too much disturbing, but still it sort of makes me feel uncomfortable while working.

Regards

Agni07,

Unfortunately, you would need to replace the mouse. I do not know if you can purchase the sensor inside the mouse. At least through Dell you cannot.
