I am starting to think Dell is run by people who can't keep things together. I get a private message asking for my order number, I gave it and they responded that they will 'look into it'. I get another from someone else from Dell asking for my email and name, I gave it and no response back.

 

Now I got another asking for email and name, I gave again but told them I am getting mad that 3 people now have asked from Dell something i already gave. Anyone else having this problem?

Similar story (albeit a laptop) and dates here, although I haven't bothered to contact them this time, as I know it's futile. 

Unfortunately what you're experiencing for customer service is standard for Dell (and similar companies with outsourced call centres).  These people can't really help you, they don't have any other information other than what's on the web site, and their only mandate is to try and keep you occupied.  That's why they ask the same questions over and over, and never get anywhere.

I'm not too convinced on the COVID excuses, COVID is not at all a new thing, and Dell has been in business for several decades now.  I find it hard to believe they couldn't do the math to figure out how many units could be possible to make during the Christmas season, based on supplies available for the past few months, and adjust inventory and ordering accordingly.  At the very least they should be offering daily updates via e-mail on our orders.

Slightly unrelated, I realize it's not for everyone, but have you thought about building your own desktop instead?  Especially if you enjoy putting things together, it might be worth exploring, and it's a lot easier than you might think.  Plus, you can still order from Dell, they make some great monitors.

Hey man, I was just wondering if your order ever got resolved. I made an order for a custom laptop in mid-december and it still hasn't shipped yet

SAME!!! I ordered a monitor on December 3 and it’s not even in production yet. Delivery and shipping date has been delayed about 3-4 times now. SMH. I need it for school but now school already started can’t even use my pc coz I have no monitor. Tsk tsk

I don't know what happened to Dell but it's such a mess.  I ordered an Alienware system on 29 November, which had an estimated delivery date of 15 of Jan, this was long enough as it was.  On the 15th Jan my order is updated to 'delayed', not by week or two... it's new estimated delivery is 15 March!

Parts shortage...if you have known stock issues and are struggling with COVID restrictions, then don't take orders, or at the very least give a realistic estimate at the time of ordering.

Customer service are relatively quick to respond but only with a generic 'we will expedite your order', which translated means we will not do anything at all and it'll get there when it gets there.

As you can probably tell, I'm annoyed.

I actually have news on mine! A few days ago it finally entered production and has since shipped! 

 

It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow night. Actually, it was scheduled to arrive tonight, but UPS pushed the delivery back a day... honestly I was pretty skeptical about "2 day shipping" from China anyway so this isn't much of a surprise.

 

Fingers crossed it arrives tomorrow and in good shape. I wish I could help your order progress

Same with my Aurora r11. 
i ordered the pc on the 21st of December, it’s delivery date was 28th of jan and now it has been delayed untill mid March. Now I get that a delay can happen but what in gods name can delay a product 2 months? And to under estimate the delivery time by that margin is a terrible lack of judgement by dell.

The delay is due to part shortage.

I've been waiting for quite a while. From 10 December 2020 to be exact. I ordered a monitor with a shipping date of January 5, 2021. I was aware that it would take a long time. Today, I'm very depressed about it, haven't given up hope yet and regret not ordering it sooner. Smartworking on a 13-inch monitor is really stressful.
