Order Verification Process is Awful
What happened to dell customer service? I ordered a laptop on 12/4 and was emailed 12/5 that my order required verification. I was given the following information:
Please contact Dell at 1-866-383-4713 extn 4161415 to provide this information so we can complete your order.
I attempted to contact this extension, and upon entering the extension was transferred to a Microsoft exchange voicemail system. Does Dell even confirm their phones work? Feel free to try this number and see where you go.
I finally was able to speak with someone on 12/5 and confirmed the laptop was to ship to my work address, instead of home since it requires a signature and is a gift. I was able to confirm the information and was told it was resolved. Today (12/8) I have a message on my work voicemail that I need to call Dell for verification. I tried to chat again today and they cannot resolve the matter. I tried the extension provided, and again today was forwarded into Microsoft exchange voicemail system.
I have now been on hold with the above toll free number for 40 minutes. What a wonderful buying experience it has been with Dell. I have purchased 2 previous Dell computers, and may still purchase this one if Dell can manage to answer a phone. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER DELL PRODUCT AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE. I will never recommend anyone else ever purchase another product. Three hours of my time trying to place my order. Perhaps Dell should not make it so hard for someone to purchase something from them.

Up to 1 hour and 10 minutes on hold. They must be experiencing really high call volumes today. Fail.

On hold for 1 hour 15 minutes. Verified same information as last Friday. See if I get another notice tomorrow. Never Dell again!!

I think it's fine that they want to verify my order. But they don't answer the phone. Eternally on hold. Not a good business practice in my opinion. And then i receive an email that says if i don't contact them immediately they will cancel the order on my behalf. Unbelievable !!!
