Ordering issues...

Hello all,

Just asking anyone who has bought a PC from Dell before, I have 'purchased' an Alienware Area 51 desktop with some amount of money. Noticed that the order status information went from it being processed to being 'in production.'

However, after a couple of days of it being in production, the delivery day looms near, and not only that, the money I used to pay for the desktop PC in the first place was suddenly returned back to me.

Calling the Automated Order Status phone number Dell provides, the order is being "processed," but not in production.

Just wondering if anyone out there has experienced this and know how Dell's order processing works. I have a bad feeling that the order was cancelled and I would have to re-order again.

Any response will be greatly appreciated.

Hi michaeru,

Thanks for posting.

I apologize for the confusion surrounding your recent ordering experience.  Normally what happens is after the order is placed, a hold on the funds is requested by Dell.  Depending on how your bank handles this it may show up on your statement briefly, then disappear.  Later after the computer actually ships is when Dell takes the funds from your account.  The computers are built overseas and normally takes about 7 to 10 days, then they are sent to a merge facility here in the USA where they are boxed up and the shipper is contacted to pick them up and deliver them to the customers.

So I hope this explains things a bit for you.  If you have any further questions, please contact me privately.  Thanks.

Regards,
Robert
