If it came from a third party (private sale, Amazon storefront, Ebay, etc.) - - ask the seller. If you don't get a satisfactory answer, return the system for a refund. If it's a grey market system that came from another market and has an untraceable history, you'll never be able to register it with Dell.

It depends on where it was purchased. If you purchased from Dell, you don't need to register.
If you purchased through an authorized seller, retail registration here:
