XPS 8960, ongoing issue

My XPS 8960 locks up. The CPU was replaced and didn't fix it. Next the motherboard which didn't fix it. Now support is starting the hard drive and power supply need to be replaced. I'm simply asking the question on why the hard drive/power supply are not suspect but can't get an answer. I feel as support is guessing and don't have to have the computer taken apart without knowing exactly the issue. I dont feel confident with the techs who have shown up and one tech was more worried about leaving that doing the job.

If you have access to one of the Dell partners you can drop off your machine with (and can be without your machine while it is diagnosed and repaired), I have had much better service with those third party partners (uBreakiFix) than I have with the dell onsite support technicians.
