Avamar w/ Multi-Tenant Data Domain Environment

We recently purchased an Avamar/Data Domain 2500 backup solution for on-premise backups to replace our aging tape system.  When we purchased this, we were told that we could replicate this to a multi-tenant Data Domain solution.  We have since contracted for the solution and have an Avamar Virtual appliance and DD tenant in the data center.  We can connect to each individually from our side for replication, but we are being told that the remote Avamar virtual appliance cannot be connected to the DD (multi-tenant), thus rendering it virtually useless.

We opened a ticket with EMC and were told that it won't work per KB articles 465092, 472532, 485632.

I feel pretty stuck right now and EMC account management is not returning my emails, so I thought I would reach out to the community.  Is the only useful solution here to get a dedicated DD2500 on the other end?
