First, you can only add supported drives to Data Domain.  You can check the compatibility matrix or ask your local CE to provide details.  Please don't try to add random drives, as this could validate your warranty.

Let us know if that helps!

Karl is right you need to add Dell/EMC drives for the Data Domain.  you will also need the extra space capacity licence to see the additional space.

You can do this if you purchase the EMC drives that are the same size as are in the DD2500. The caveat is that you will not be able to fully utilize the space unless you reinitialize the DD2500. When you add the 5 drives, they will create their own RAID DP group (3+2) and then you can expand the file system onto them. That means out of all the drives, you lose 4 to RAID DP instead of just +2 for all the drives which kills the usable space.

In the case I did this, the customer purchased a second DD2500 so I was able to replicate to the new DD2500, destroy the file system on the original DD2500, and then use all the drives in a single RAID DP group to maximize usable space.
