DD6300 fan speed increases every day for a short period of time

Hello,

I have a DD6300 (version 7.7.4.0-1017976),
on which every afternoon around 15:45 the fan speed increases for 1 - 2 minutes. However, nothing has changed in the room environment and the cabinet is air conditioned.

Is there anything that can be configured? Has anyone had this problem?

Via CLI I could find out that the temperature (environment, drive IO) also rises for the moment.

It seems that the self-test was performed at the time the DataDomain was started.
We restarted the DataDomain at a different time and thus the self-test was delayed.

This is enough for us as a solution.

Congrats! You have spotted the daily fan test schedule.

BIST Fan testing logic:
The EOS fan test is an operational test that validates fan hardware.
The firmware will perform the following actions to test the fans:
Enable adaptive cooling test mode
Configure the fan to run at its maximum PWM
Wait for 30 seconds
Validate the fan gets to within 15% of its defined maximum RPM speed
Disable adaptive cooling test mode

Due to scheduled BIST (built in self test), Users may notice a high pitch whine due to the automatic fan validation tests.

This fan validation test is built into the BIOS FW.  As part of the test cycle, the fans will operate at each speed (Low , Medium , High) to ensure that all fans are capable of sustaining full speed without failure.  The test will complete in about 2 minutes.

Hello Kudos,

it is possible to change the time of the daily fan test?

Built into BIOS FW ... best guess is no. Open ticket to Dell engineering and see what they say?
