16 DC16251, slow and Apps
Good evening,
I was wondering if someone can help me please? I have a new Dell 16 laptop (DC16251) and it seems slow, but I think it's still updating. I have done the necessary updates, but one security update doesn't seem to be updating - it has been stuck on 10% for sometime.
Then, on my old Dell laptop, I backed up my data - but the apps haven't really come through onto here. It says "The specified path does not exist" and to "check path". What does that mean? (Have I got to go on a walk to make it better?) No.
Thanks for reading and helping.

Power off the computer, wait a few minutes and then power on computer again. Check in settings to see if the latest windows updates are installed. Type Settings onto search box, select Windows updates.
If windows update still stuck at 10%, run the windows troubleshooter. Type Troubleshooter onto search box, Other Troubleshooters, select windows update troubleshooter.
I am assuming you are trying to open some of the apps that was on your old computer which are on the new computer? If this is the case, they will not work in windows 11. You can look for a similar app in the Microsoft store.

Hi. Thank you for your reply!
I have had my computer off and restarted several times. I am all up to date just can't seem to download this security update. I can have another check.
I might do that, thanks.
Yes. Oh right. Windows 11 is new to me and have been used to Windows 10. So I need to find a newer or equivalent app to it then.
Thanks.

Since this is a new computer, I suggest installing latest drivers, download and firmware onto your computer. Type Support Assist onto search box and let the Dell utility tool do it thing. Hopefully this will help speed up your computer.

According to troubleshooter, it says that I am up to date, but on the updates tab on settings that 2025 security update is still there. Is it a bug do you think?
Thank you.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a similar computer as yours. It's Dell Inspiron 16 DC16251. It has a solid drive and 16G memory installed. My computer boots up very fast and windows 11 is lightning speedy. The latest windows updates and dell drivers, firmware and downloads are installed.
According to Dell Support Owner Manual page, your computer has a M.2 2230 solid state drive, so your computer should boot up quick. The supported memory per slot is 8 and 16GB. Your computer should not be slow if there's more than 8GB of memory. You can check the amount of memory by typing msinfo onto search box, look for installed memory.

@LSUFAN51 , welcome.
I am so confused, but that's the same model number as mine, but mine doesn't say "Inspiron" it's just Dell 16 laptop. Maybe I just haven't clocked it yet. As I say, Windows 11 is very new to me and there's a lot to get my head around. When I launch a certain app it just doesn't load or takes sometime to load, for example Dell optimizer and it hasn't loaded. It is still loading in fact.

My apologies, I meant Dell 16 DC16251.
I have a bunch of old Inspiron computers around my house.
If you haven't done yet, run Dell Support Assist utility to check for the latest drivers.
Type Support Assist onto search box,

@LSUFAN51 Hi, thanks for your message. I wasn't able to reply yesterday it said that my replies had reached maximum use or something.
I'm glad that I speaking to a Dell expert then! :)
Done all of that it's come back with all green ticks.
In the update settings, the security update has been removed now - thank goodness (see earlier responses for reference). However, is it normal for the settings to be slow? And some applications seem to take forever to load too, yesterday Dell Optimization was taking forever to load.
In terms of navigating through Chrome or other services it has a good speed.
Now, is there anything else that I need to do or to know about?
Thank you very much!

Keep in mind, most new computers will appear to be slow because all updating (windows /Dell) that being done in the background. When I first received my Dell computer, the computer experienced slowness and freezing. Some of the window updates and dell drivers took forever to installed onto my computer. Once all of them got installed, my computer became lightning fast. By the way, Dell Optimization is one of my favorite applications. If you have not done so yet, register your Dell computer to get the one-year hardware warranty for your computer.

Great News! Good to know your computer are up to date.
It took about 1 to 2 weeks for my computer to work normally with no problems.
If you have not done so yet, register your computer with dell.
