16 Plus DB16255, HELP Hover is possessed

I just got my laptop  Dell 16 Plus DB16255 a few days ago. I have tried everything but, the touchpad pointer arrow has a mind of it's own.

Matters not if i turn the "hover option off or on, nothing changes. it opens and closes web pages, deletes emails without me even touching it. I cannot even use this laptop acting like this. Please tell be how to fix! Thank you.

So to confirm, the touchpad is randomly moving the mouse/ its not responding correctly? Should this be the case, I would recommend trying to replicate the issue within the BIOS. If the touchpad is not responding correctly here, then your issue is hardware and you should contact support for a warranty repair.

  1. Restart the unit
  2. Constantly tap the F2 key when the dell logo appears to enter the BIOS
  3. Move the touchpad around to see if it responds correctly

The only other thing to try out should it not respond correctly in the BIOS is a hard reset.

  1. Disconnect any external devices including the AC adapter and disconnect the battery cable if able.
  2. Hold the power button down for 10 seconds
  3. Bypass any power strips, surge protectors or battery backups
  4. Verify the wall outlet is functional
  5. Reseat the battery cable if disconnected
  6. Plug only the AC adapter back into the laptop
  7. Attempt to power on the system

Contact Dell GHN (Get Help Now) chat technical support Monday through Friday. Click the blue "Get Help Now" on the right to start a private live chat session. Share the private Service Tag with them so that they can verify the ownership and warranty status. This will also generate a unique Technical Support case for your unique Service Tag.
