Mouse behavior question using laptop vs. dual monitors on new laptop?

Bought a new Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 DB04255.  My mouse (Logitech M720) works fine with the laptop screen, or with the laptop screen plus dual monitors.

My problem is when I close my laptop screen and only use the dual monitors, my mouse cursor behaves poorly in Windows Explorer.  It will not allow for scrolling, always jumping back to the top of a list.  I have read that others have had this problem in Windows 11 when using Windows Explorer but my variant is that it is only a problem when my laptop is closed.  Mouse and Windows Explorer work fine if laptop stays open.

I prefer to keep laptop closed and just use the dual monitors when at home.  But I must use Windows Explorer fequently.

Any ideas?
