Alert policies not sending emails

My alert policies are no longer sending emails since upgrading from 3.10 to 4.0.1. I am able to send a test email from Application Settings -> Alerts -> Email Configuration, but no matter what I try I can't get my alert policies to send emails.

No settings were changed after the upgrade to 4.0.1. I have created a new test alert policy that includes all categories, devices, and severities, but it never sends an email despite seeing new alerts in the alert log. If it weren't for CloudIQ alerts I would have missed a critical hardware failure.

I have tried disabling proxy since it caused issues during the 4.0 migration, but that didn't change anything.

Is there anything else I can try?

Hello,

Check your SMTP time out setting. Try setting to 3 minutes, and save.

Just editing the time out and saving the same config fixes it.

Hello,

Did you select what alerts to get?

You may try selecting all, then remove the ones you don't need.

Try using the OME Troubleshooting tool to test SMTP

@DELL-Charles R

The links you sent are for iDRAC not OME. I have successfully tested SMTP by sending a test email here:

On the alert policy I have:

  • Categories - Checked "All"
  • Target - "All Devices"
  • Date and Time
    • From (previous day) to (no end date)
    • Time Interval unchecked
    • All days checked
  • Severity - Checked All
  • Actions - Email checked
    • same To/From as the SMTP test screenshotted above

I should add that I have three OME instances which each had working email alert policies before the migration to 4.0.1. Now all three of them are not sending email alerts but can send test emails successfully from Application Settings.

That worked on all three OME instances. Thank you!

I'm assuming this was caused by the migration to 4.0.1. Will this be addressed in a future update?

Hello,

That is great to see.

It is a new field there. You could use 2 min, 3 min, anything, the catch is that the field needs to be edited and saved.

I would think they may make a note in next release notes. I can't say for sure. We'll just need to see if it is mentioned in next release.
