Dell OpenManage Enterprise and CentOS

Hi there,

It seems that Dell OpenManage is based of CentOS 7 but this operating system will be end of life next year (June 2024).

Is there any plan to update the appliance? Not an emergency yet but our company is already opening an EOL project and we have to have some justifications for Dell OME.

Thanks in advance and kind regards

Franck

@Franck Ehret  if it is still relevant, the 4.x version seems to be using SUSE. From the User Guide, Deployment/Deploy in KVM

Operating system: The intended operating system for the virtual machine. For OpenManage Enterprise 4.0 and later, the operating system used is SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP4 (15.4)

Hi Marco,

Would be nice to get one some don't you think? 😉

I can't imagine Dell is not working on the issue... But of course, I can understand that such information are not disclosed yet.

Please update this post whenever you get anything new, this can be useful for some of us.

Kind regards

Franck

Hello,

I have to do some changes into the SUSE appliance, specially allowing to log by ssh that currently is locked.

But GRUB ask for credentials, where I can find them?

Hello,

There is not access to the appliance OS for the public.

Access into OME by SSH is only possible via FSD process which is an Engineering unlock.

If you need access I recommend contacting Support directly and an engineer can do a remote session with you.
