CIDR in range allocation?
Can I use CIDR in range assignments?
I want to assign a range to cover a /22 and do do that with the x-x method would require 4 separate ranges each covering a /24

Hey...
Nope...but give me some more specifics in how you would like to enter your discovery ranges...a few examples....and I will send along.
thx!

10.10.0.0/21
An entry like that covers the entire address space from 10.10.0.0 to 10.10.7.255
Basic CIDR notation :)
This would allow users to carve out larger chunks with one entry rather than having to enter 8 separate ranges:
10.10.0.1-254
10.10.1.1-254
10.10.2.1-254
10.10.3.1-254
10.10.4.1-254
10.10.5.1-254
10.10.6.1-254
10.10.7.1-254

Thanks, will send it across. Just out of curiosity, what advantage does this have over just manipulating the netmask field?
Thx!

Ok, thanks. I'll pass along....btw, we don't have Safari or MacOS in our supported browser matrix, but I know some folks use it with some success. I'll suggest to the product team that we look at our browser/client support :)
On my Windows 7 / IE browser, the mask is gray but it allows me to enter a mask when I start typing in the field. You might confirm on a non-Mac browser and let me know if you can.
Thx!

Netmask is always greyed out.
Also netmask defines the size of the block but not the IPs in the range.
In looking at the available options again it looks like I can use a 0-7 in the third octet and a wild card in the fourth which would do the same as CIDR for a 10.10.0.0/21. I will try that!
Also for QA team, x-x entry style in the IP fields does not work on Mac browsers.

I mostly use Chrome on Mac.
As for netmask I am not able to activate any of the fields to start typing when using Explorer 11 in OME 1.3.0.1533. I click on em and nothing.

Ok, odd...I'm using IE 9 and 10 and I can edit that field. I'll try to find an IE 11 box.

And assuming your not trying this on a range group, but an "Add Disc Range" wizard :)
thx!

Yup a range in a group. Not the group itself :)
