Dell OpenManage Essentials and DRM
im trying to do a idrac FW upgrade from
Dell OpenManage Essentials. I also downloaded DRM.
our idracs dont have outside network access so I thought that DRM was suppose to fix that.
I thought that DRM would download the repo from DELL and make it local ?
i dont see any way to tell OME to talk to DRM.. they are both installed on the same machine.
when I try to run update manager on OME I get the following error.

I think we have a whitepaper on the DRM page...can you double check and look for the OME/DRM whitepaper here?

ok so I got to the point where I was able to download and create an OME repo via DRM
but some things failed during download. for ex
33. 10/2/2014 12:13:53 PM Export Repository : Failed to download update 16/102 : ESM_Firmware_KGR3M_WN32_1.03_A00-00.EXE
was this a timeout to the ftp server?
also, when I try to add a local repo via OME and select " use repository manager file"
when I browse to the location where I saved the repo to via DRM, there is no catalog.xml or catalog.cab file but there are a lot of directories and 1 file called Refreshinfo.bin
also, there are a hand full of dracs that show up from the scan but have a (?) icon instead of a green checkmark.. one even said the system was powered off even though it isnt.. I reset the drac and re inventoried but the status is still the same.

so i imported the catalog.xml to OME.. but it claims all servers are compliant.
but they are not..
I have one that has an idrac version of 1.92. the most current is 1.97.
did I do something wrong with the import?

Ok,
Can you confirm you are discovering the iDRACS via WSman and only WSMan?
Thx!

Can you confirm you have CSIOR enabled in the BIOS? Collect System Inventory On Reboot--That is what collects the inventory.
Thx

ill see if I can find a test machine to use.. I assume I have to boot into the BOIS to check this?
or is it in the idrac?
still, if OME is showing me a server with what it has for a current idrac version then it knows already what the version is.. what i dont understand is why OME is claiming its compliant..
for example.. idrac7. current is 1.57.57 i have one that is telling me its 1.51.51 and its green in the systems update tab under compliant systems..
are u saying that CSIOR still needs to be enabled ??

yeah, I think that's it. Enable CSIOR and it should collect the latest inventory information...should be a BIOS setting. Reboot, F2, select iDrac settings, then LifeCycle controller (this is for 12G).
Thanks,
Rob

On Gen 11 systems:
On the page that opens you will see a dropdown that allows you to enable or disable CSIOR.
The system will run inventory collection on reboot.

ok CSIOR is enable on a R620 im testing with..
in reports it shows the server IDRAC as 1.51.51
and in devices it has 1.51.51 with an explanation point i assume because its not up2date.
but if I go to system update it still claims that all servers in OE are compliant.
i forced refresh of inventory and status.. now its all green but the version is stilll 1.51.51
