Hyper V = Not showing guests
Openmanage 2.0,
Discovering my Hyper-V 2012R2 servers using SNMP + WMI.
They appear in both "servers" and "Microsoft Virtualization servers" sections, however, no guests are displayed in the "Microsoft Virtualization servers" tab.
However, all the guests are correctly listed in the Hyper-V information Report in the reports tab.
Any pointers?

Hi,
So have you discovered the guests separately? The guest information is populated from the host from we don't get that information from the host as of now. If you discover the guest separately using SNMP, then you should be able to get that information under a node named as Virtual Machines for each host.

Have tried discovering the guests separately using SNMP - They all end up in unknown.
Tried again using WMI - Once again, they end up in unknown.
The Discovery wizard seems to suggest that it would disover BOTH the hyperV host & guests.

Hi there,
The choices made are correct for Hyper-V in the wizard,
Remember you must make sure SNMP is enabled and working on guests.
The guest are always shown as unkown we don’t classify them as a server.
After the discovery cycle is completed, the guest systems are correlated to hosting server and shown
under the virtual machine subgroup. But they will also report under the unknown group since they are not hardware and they don't have any instrumentation.
So hopefully we can see them under the VM subgroup as guests.
Thanks,
Rob

Yeah, SNMP is enabled (and working!) on the guests. Left it disabled for now, as I don't like having stuff in the unknown group!

Right....
Some more discussion on the Unknown group...see Pupul's last post in the thread. Not sure if it is helpful.
