ADAPTEC EASY CD CREATOR
After installing upgrade Windows98 4.10.2222 I am unable to create compilation audio discs. [Copying single audio disc is not a problem... just when multiple source discs are involved]. After setting up the tracks to copy from multiple source discs, and after instructing to "create CD", I am prompted to "Insert Disc #1". However, the disc is ejected, and the prompt to "Insert Disc #1" appears again. Never get beyond that point. Was not a problem before installing the upgraded Windows98. In fact, a warning box appears when I boot the computer stating that "directcd.exe" [or is it cddirect.exe?" -- whatever, the executable file for the software] might not function properly with this version of Windows. Any workarounds or fixes known out there for this? Thanks.

Thanks for responding. The software was part of OEM system. I did contact Adaptec after first calling DELL SUPPORT and being referred to them. Adaptec representative was very polite and referred me back to DELL SUPPORT under the agreements they have with OEM'S to provide support. DELL was working on it last night, but OUR phone connection got cut off... so I sent DELL an e-mail and posted here, hoping someone may have encountered the same problem and fixed it. My version is labeled... "Adaptec Easy CD Creator 3.5b" and "Adaptec DirectCD 2.5c" and "Dell Version 1.0".
What version of Windows98 are you using?

Mark,
I know this sounds too simple but I know of three or four situations where this worked
When you are prompted to insert D#1, insert a different disk, then it should ask for D#1 again, and it may work this time. FWIW: make sure Direct CD is not running in the background, you have to have it disabled for Audio burns. My nickel.

and download the adaptec upgrade to 3.5c version.
http://www.adaptec.com/support/files/cdrupdates.html
The file you have to download is:
cdc-35c.exe (5MB)
If you have other then english version you
can also download cdc-intl-35c.exe (7.8MB) to upgrade to your language.
Maybe this helps.

Now that's a clever suggestion worth a try. Thanks.

Many thanks on the download info. Also sorry to hear about the missing system. Bummer.
In working more with the software today, I discovered that I may have committed the classic, "post hoc, ergo propter hoc" fallacy. I don't think the problems are related to Windows98 at all. Just a coincidence. What I discovered is that the error occurred when I was attempting to burn a CD without using the WIZZARD, and when I attempted to create the CD as a DISC AT ONCE. Given the same procedures and not choosing DISC AT ONCE, everything worked fine. Must be something about multiple source CD's and that option that won't work. Maybe the new version would allow that. Thanks again.
