Have you tried running Dell diagnostics on the machine? I know it performs several memory and cache tests that may help you pinpoint the cause.

Multi-bit ECC errors are indeed most likely memory issues (might be the cache memory on the processor, but more likely to be the RDRAM memory in your system.

If you have 2 memory modules in the system and a blank or smaller RIMM (from a previous upgrade or so), swap 1 module at a time and run Dell diagnostics on the memory.

With RDRAM memory, you cannot leave any memory slot unpopulated.

If the quick test finds nothing, run the extensive option. If the module you left in there passes, swap it with the module you initially pulled out to confirm that that's the one with the errors by running the memory tests on it.

If you only have 1 memory module and then a filler module (Continuity RIMM (CRIMM)), it's the RIMM as the CRIMM doesn't have ECC.
