Boot Configuration Data error 0xc0000034
I have an XPS 8500 which is just over a year old and therefore out of warranty.
When trying to boot up I get the above error message, asking me to use a recovery USB which I don't have. I managed to get into the ePSA and run the tests including the extended one (I think) and it said that it could find no errors. I am guessing I have a problem with the hard drive but am now stuck, I don't have a clue what to do next.
Can anyone help, I can't find anyone to contact at Dell either.
Karen

Try ordering a disc from this page. <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>
This repair will leave your files intact. You could also restore the factory hard drive image, but that will erase your files.

Hi Karen,
Is this Windows 7 or 8? You will most likely need your Windows disc to fix this. Do you have one?

I do not have a Windows disk, its the usual non-supply of these anymore. It is Windows 8 64-bit.
From some of the posts, I have seen you have to go buy this from Dell if you don't have it. I tried when I first set up to create the back-up it suggested but I could not figure out how to do this at the time. From memory I don't think I had anything acceptable to create it on. If I do get this from Dell, will it wipe my hard drive, I have some stuff on then I would prefer not to lose.
Any help greatly appreciated
Karen
