Com 1 busy - Bypass?

Go to device mgr>com 1>port settings>advanced. At bottom of that page it will say com 1. Change to some other port, i.e. com 2, click OK. Assign your serial device to the port you just picked. Not sure why, but it appears to work.

Is this a problem or information?

I have been having problems with a modem attached to my serial port on COM1. I can see how to change the serial port to COM2, but how do I change my modem to attach to COM2? By default, it installs to COM1. I've tried everything else.

Thanks.

I haven't tried it but the same type option is on Device Mgr>Modem>Advanced>Advanced Port Settings.

I think I figured out how to do it, but I don't have time to work on it right now. I see in device mgr>ports, I can change COM1 to COM2. And when I use the hardware wizard, there is an option to change the port number. When I have to reinstall my modem again, I'll try it. If it works, I'll post back.

Thanks for the suggestion.

FYI: Yes, this is information only. Com 1 works OK with A05 & A06. The bypass can be removed.
