com port id

How can I identify what com port number is on the front od my desktop? I am trying to connect a cell phone, and the Nokia software requires me to identify the com port number I am connecting to.

The Nokia software asks for com port 3.   But the cable has USB connector, and there are 4 USB ports on the front of my desktop.   I guess one com port 3 and I can't identify nwhich one?

What model PC?  What Operating System?

There are no "Com" ports on the front of Desktop PC's that I know of (I assume you have a Desktop PC and NOT a Laptop as you posted in the Desktop Section).  In fact most new PC's in the last 3 or 4 years no longer have a Serial Com Port (which was always on the rear of the PC).  Usually the only I/O data ports are USB.

You may want to check with Nokia or your Cell Phone Carrier for help with connecting this to your PC.

If you don't tell us exactly what model PC you're using, as fireberd has already asked, nobody can help you with this problem!

Com ports are typically Serial ports, not USB ports. So maybe you need to contact Nokia for instructions.
