COM Port Identification

​ I am trying to determine what com port is associated with a Palm Vx docking cradle that I have attached to my Dim 8250 through the serial port. I am running XP Home and when looking in Device Manager, I cannot seem to figure out which com port this device is associated with. In looking at Ports (COM & LPT) it lists COM1 and LPT1 and says that COM1 is working properly. I am fairly sure that the device is actually on COM3 but I cannot see that port in the Device Manager. The reason this is important is that I have a device that seemed to synchronize flawlessly with Outlook until a couple of months ago and now I cannot get Hot Sync to work, saying that a communication link cannot be established. I have done all the other simple stuff; cables, power, software updates etc. Any help would be appreciated. ​
