Computer crashes with error 0x00007f

Hi,

Recently I have discovered that if i keep my computer on for few hours, it crashes. Among other things, the blue crash screen tells me to check the memory for errors but I don't know how to do that. Under technical, it gives me the following error (more or less): stop 0x00007f and then bunch of zeros. How do I fix that problem? Please help. It hasn't been even a year since i got my Dim 8300.

Dimension 8300

XP Home

2.8 GHz HT

120 GB HD

512 400MHz DDR RAM

128 Meg ATI Radeon 9800 non-pro

BarcaTheGreat,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

To test the system for hardware failures boot the system with the drivers and utilities CD that came with your system and run the Dell Customer Diagnostics. You can run the full tests or just the memory tests.

See the following:

http://www.kayodeok.btinternet.co.uk/favorites/kbasewinxp.htm#kbstop

Page down to the specific listing for your error and see if any of the links relate to your specific problem.

I did most of the tests (except for some floppy disk tests). No errors or any other problems. So I am guessing it's not hardware specific problem. Any ideas how could I fix it?

Well according to the website, the most likely cause is a hardware failure, such as RAM. But my dell diagnostic tells me it is fine. Could it be a software? I remember that when it crashed, I was running Yet Another Bittorrent Client (http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent). Could that be causing the problem? I have used it before and it never gave me any problems. How can I be sure that this software is my problem?

I just read a thread over at 3dgpu.com about bittorrent and memory problems. Hop on over to the forums over there and see if that may be it. (I don't have access to the forums here at work so I can't double check it)

edit: disregard...doesn't seem to apply
