Computer won't boot

When you press Ctl+Alt+Del, click on new task and type in explorer and press enter. Mightend work but sure give it  a go.

The dreaded "Windows wont boot"..... alas, it is caused by many an issue... too many to even name. It would seem best to "borrow" a friend's Windows 98? It's not exactly fraud seeing as you do own it but simply cannot find it. Good luck to you, sir! talustheelder@hotmail.com.

Have you tried safe mode?  If not power system up and press the F8 key repeatedly until you get a Windows 98 Start Menu.  Choose safe mode.  Safe mode will bypass most all start up programs and also load generic drivers.  Once into safe mode check your start menu-programs-starup folder.  Delete anything there that may look new.  Also run msconfig (winkey R, type msconfig.exe and OK).  Go to the startup tab and uncheck most everything except explorer and taskmgr.  Then try restarting system.

If this does not work try obtaining an antivirus boot disk that has the most recent virus definitions from someone.  Then boot your system from that and run a full scan.  This can take an hour or so to do.

I have tried Safe Mode.  Again I get a blank screen (color of my wallpaper) with no status bar or icons.  When I Ctl+Alt+Del there is nothing running in the Close Program box.  I will try your other suggestions, thanks.

When I press Ctl+Alt+Del the Close Program box comes up and the only options are End task, Shut down and Cancel.  I don't get the status bar on the bottom so I can't figure out how to get any other options.
