Cpu usage problem with explorer.exe

i have a dim3000, and when i go to windows task manager, EXPLORER.EXE is using all of my Cpu, with growing virtual memory/shifting over time. I need some help/info please. I know that if i end the process, the taskbar/start will be terminated. I think this is associated with a file i have, an .avi file that does not work when played in window media player. I cannot delete the file because another application is using the file at the same time. Should i try using system restore?

one of the guys helped me when i had a file that wouldn't delete.Open task manager and minimize it so it's at the bottom.Next hit start, run, type cmd. It should say c:\ documents and settings \your name or whatever.Type del and hit space bar. Next hit start, run, browse and look for that file that won't delete. find it and left click and drag it to the cmd window you opened earlier. if you can't see it you might have to start over and move it over a little. So you click and drag into cmd window and let go. It should say c:\ documents and settings\your name or username>del  that file you want to delete.before you hit enter remember the task manager that was minimized earlier?click it and end process EXPLORER.exe,Now minimize task manager again and then mouse click in cmd window to let it know you're there again and then hit enter. If done right it should have deleted the file that wouldn't go away. you can close cmd and click task manager up again now go to file ,new process and type EXPLORER.exe to start it again. If it didn't delete then explorer.exe is not the program holding the file hostage. I AM NOT TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS UP AND DELETE SOMETHING YOU NEED>YOU ASKED FOR HELP>MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT NEED THAT FILE!!!
